8/18/2008 - Altrusa International Inc. of Arcadia, California has made a five-year commitment to sponsoring a young girl in a Christian orphanage, The Shepherd's Home, in Nairobi, Kenya. All the children at the orphanage have lost their parents to HIV-Aids but all the children are HIV negative. The Club's project began in 2007 and has grown to include silent auctions to raise dollars in general support of the school.


8/11/2008 - Members of Altrusa International, Inc. of Merrimack Valley, Massachusetts A participated in NAMI Walks (National Association on Mental Illness) in Boston, Massachusetts. The Walk's purpose is to raise awareness and support for the mentally ill. L-R Altrusa members: Katherine Richo, Eleanor Durant, Cindy Bluestein, Glenda Sheppard, and Ann Marie Snyer.


8/8/2008 - Members from Altrusa International, Inc. of Salem, Oregon had some fun spreading the word about “Altrusa” by walking in the Dallas (Oregon) Summerfest Parade. Altrusa brochures and candy was passed out along the parade route. One member and her husband decorate their antique car to be a part of the Altrusa presentation.


8/8/2008 - The Central Coast, California Club collaborated with their local hospital to give children books and toys while in the hospital. Due to new health regulations, regarding infectious diseases many medical facilities are unable to keep books and toys on hand. Club President, Jackie Brunello and Club members developed a project called Presidents Project for Special Young Children. The Club members made book bags and included three age appropriate items in each bag.

We are always looking for new photos to add to the web site.

Please send us any photos related to Altrusa activities that you may have.  Don't worry about their size as we will automatically resize them and create thumbnails.  We will also select the best ones for rotation on the home page, so be sure to make them all count!

We can only accept digital photographs, as we don't have the staff to scan printed photos. 

Please send all pictures, along with a caption describing them to photos@altrusa.com.

 

Guildelines


When sending us photos please keep the following in mind:

Caption - Include a short caption of the event and the names of the people in the picture.

Date - We need a date that the picture was taken.

Photographer's Name - So we can credit them.
